Scientifically known as Lymnocryptes minimus this bird is a small stocky wader and is also the smallest snipe known. It is the only member of the genus Lymnocryptes and is not closely related to other snipes or woodcocks.
This type of bird species is mainly prevalent in the south west parts of Africa that includes countries like Lesotho, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Swaziland. It is closely related to Augur Buzzard that is most commonly found northwards of the African continent. Both of these birds belong to the family buteo which also includes the Common Buzzard.
This is a flightless seabird that is only found in off the coast of Southern Africa. It is known to breed in more than 24 offshore islands that range from Namibia to Port Elizabeth. Some colonies are also to be found in Namibia but no one knows when they were established. They do not usually nest on the ground because of the many predators that surround them.
Belonging to the family Petroicidae, Jacky Winter is a type of bird species that is mostly found in Australia and Papua Guinea. Because of its tendency to sit on posts in paddocks and farms, it is colloquially known as post sitter. Previously, it was most commonly known as the Brown Flycatcher although it is more closely related to the crows than the flycatcher types of birds.
This is comparatively a small species of the crows and has similar morphological features as the Cuban Crow and the White-necked Crow of Hispaniola to which it is most certainly very closely related.
Jacamars are birds that come from a family of Galbulidae from the South America and Central America and also in Mexico. The order Galbulidae has five genera and 18 bird species. There is a close relationship between this family and that of the puff birds which is yet another Neotropical family.

Jackdaw is the name of a small black crow that has typical grey neck and pale eyes. It is a very social type of bird that is usually seen in pairs or in of larger colonies. Quite and acrobatic in nature, the flocks of Jackdaw are often seen chasing and tumbling together in flight. It can walk and hop on the ground with little problem
Jay is a vivid crow just about the same size as the jackdaw. These birds are mostly pinkish brown with under parts a bit paler. They have crowns which are white flecked with white throats and black moustache. The wings are mainly black with white patches although they also have stark blue patches.
Jabiru is a large bird which is mainly found in the Americas and its geographical distribution ranges from Mexico to Argentina, with notable exceptions to the western side of the Andes Mountains. It is to be mostly found in the Pantanal region of Brazil and in the Oriental Chaco region in Paraguay
